UR- Burn in Noise Welcome to Universal Religion 2013, your real name is Gustavo Manfroni. Where were you born and brought up?

BIN- Thank you. It is a real pleasure to be part of the festival. I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. But in the last 20 years I have been living in Brasília, the capital.

UR- Can you share with your numerous followers what made you take up Djing, any early influences you would like to mention?

BIN- I always loved music and since my early days I have been in-to rock bands, playing the guitar. Around 1999 I discovered Goa trance and I loved it. I was already more in to dark electronic music like Atari Teenage Riot. So in 2000 I got some music producing software and started into making my own music. I never played as DJ.

UR- When did the gigs and production start in earnest, can you recall a time when you told yourself ‘This is it, I have arrived’?

BIN- In 2002 during a Brazilian festival, I saw GMS playing in their DJ set 2 tracks of mine, and the tunes really worked on the dance-floor. At that point I started believing that making music would be the best way of living my life.

UR- Where did you do your first professional show, a festival or club you can recall that put you on the map?

BIN- I had my first Live show at Brasília. Was an Open air Party. My first real big gig, to more than 20.000 people was around 2003.

UR- You have an enviable number of releases under hot labels worldwide; can you tell us a little bit of how the journey to it has been. Would you say tough to break in?

BIN- It has been a long and hard way. My first release was in 2002, but before that I made 2 Demo independent albums and from there I released more than 200 tracks on many compilations, EPs and albums included.

UR- What made you take up Psychedelic in the vast spectrum of Electronic dance music; how would you describe the Burn in Noise sounds?

BIN- I really like all kinds of music but Psychedelic Trance I think is so modern and still has all the old Hippie vibe to it. It’s very hard to describe my own music, but I try to make something Psychedelic with an underground touch.

UR- You have two successful albums behind you ‘Broken MP3’ on a Brazilian label Vagalume Records & ‘Passing Clouds’ on Alchemy thereafter; what plans for now. Can you give us news if you have any releases coming up this year?

BIN- Yeah my last album was in 2008 and was such an important period of my career. It gave me a lot of perspective around the world. After that I had lots of compilation releases and 1 EP in 2009. I also worked on The First Stone Album in 2010 and Circuit Breakers Album now in 2013 and EP 2011. Now for 2013 I will release my full Burn in Noise Album, around April. I’m really excited about it.

UR- We hear there’s an association or collaboration that’s been going on with Dick Trevor, how is that going for you two. Also, popularly known as ‘Circuit Breakers’ you guys have had quite a bit of success on Nano Records, what are your future plans?

BIN- We just released our Album, last January. We worked a long way to finish it and were really proud of it. When we can meet we always work on some new music together. Dickster is a legend and it’s a big pleasure to make this project with him.

UR- Your thoughts on this year’s edition of Universal Religion, is there a certain sound that you’re going to bring in to the festival as opposed to what you do abroad?

BIN- I’m really happy to play there, surrounded by this incredible nature. I want to bring my most Psychedelic music and try out some of my new album tracks. It will be an amazing experience.

UR- What does Gustavo between his busy gig guide and production time, do to chill out?

BIN- I love to stay at home with my wife, family and dog. I have a relaxed life. Love cinema and good food.

UR- Do you have a favorite club or festival, where you think the vibe is awesome or never fail to impress you?

BIN- Universo Paralello in Brazil is definitely the Festival that is in my heart. I played there for 8 editions and it’s such an amazing vibe by the beach in Brazil.

UR- Do you think Psychedelic Trance is at a good place in the current scene, feel there’s room for improvement? If so, what might that be?

BIN- I like the underground aspect of it but also like the Hi tech stuff involved. There’s always room for improvement.

It is so modern music and in the way technology development is fast, I can only imagine good things to incorporate in the music. From the beginning of the early 90’s to now it has changed a lot, especially in quality, accessibility and computer programs.

UR- Can you share with your fans what your musical life is looking like in 2013, where do you go from Nepal?

BIN- 2013 has been an amazing year. I’ve been to so many great places like Austria, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Brazil, Chile, USA, Dubai, India and Japan. After Nepal I have to go to Israel, Germany, Poland, Greece, Hungary, Switzerland, and UK.

UR- A message to all the dedicated followers at Universal Religion 2013, a nice something to sign off with?

BIN- Will be such an incredible time, it is a real pleasure to share my music with all of you.
